Chapter Philanthropy and Service
Zeta Tau Alpha's national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Philanthropy and service play a major role in the life of our chapter. It is one of the most important and fun things that we do together! Our chapter has been recognized on campus and nationally for our philanthropic work, and you’ll see us “thinking pink” all over JSU! We are proud to say that our chapter raises and donates the most philanthropic funds on campus, and our chapter has been inducted into the prestigious Founders Club for ZTA chapters across the nation who raise the most philanthropic funds. We recently won the JSU Greek award for Outstanding Community Service 2017 for our efforts during October, Breast Cancer Awareness month. Read below about just some of our many projects for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness! The chapter also contributes to many other service projects locally as well, which you can read about on the Service page.
Paint the Town Pink
The Zetas "paint the town pink" each October by hanging big pink bows all over Jacksonville. Our chapter also sells the pink bows to friends and family to be hung in homes and offices, which raises money for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness as well as spreads awareness beyond Jacksonville. Big Man on Campus (BMOC)
Each Spring, our chapter conducts Big Man On Campus, a fun and exciting male talent show that is enjoyable for all involved, from the contestants to the audience! The guys answer an on stage question, perform a special talent, and strut their stuff, as they compete for the crown. BMOC raises well over $3,000 for our philanthropy, and is one of the most popular philanthropy events at JSU!
Think Pink Football Game
Each October, the chapter hosts the Think Pink football game at JSU and asks all the JSU students and community to pink out the stadium with them as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Zetas sell pink shakers, hand out pink ribbons, and go out onto the field with survivors of breast cancer.
Think Pink Week
As a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we hold a week full of events to raise awareness and money for the cause. This past year, events included a "Pound Away Breast Cancer" fitness class held on the Jacksonville Square that was open for the whole community, as well as a spirit night at Momma Goldberg's, and handing out pink ribbons all over campus!
